2:00 – 2:15 p.m. | Introduction

Marc Cloosterman, CEO, VIM Group and Page Country Chair, the Netherlands and Germany

2:15 – 3:00 | The Reality of the ‘New Normal’

Hans is currently working on a project for the Corporate Affairs function of KPN to look at all the developments around COVID 19. He has been following the news closely with the intention to bring as many different views together as possible. “It’s important to first look at what’s going on before we draw any conclusions.” In his contribution, he will share some observations and discuss different views on topics like societal impact, digitalization, resilience, inequality, sustainability, and leadership. Many think that there’s going to be ‘a new normal’, but how much of that will be actually realized?

Hans Koeleman, Senior Counsel, KPN and Page Board member

3:00 – 3:45 p.m. | Setting the Standard for Responsible Business

It is becoming clear that as the COVID fog clears, businesses everywhere will have to acknowledge they serve society, not the other way round. Societal expectations will have changed – perhaps irrevocably, and this will also be reflected in changing attitudes and roles of governments and regulators. We seem to have seen the high tide mark of ‘liberal globalization,’ and companies will need to negotiate a new ‘social contract’ with their customers and communities. The debate around ESG and purpose-led business has become mainstream. The ‘S’ in ESG has taken centre stage, and is likely to remain there for a while, with your own employees often the most critical observers. But E and the G will not be far behind… Corporate communications leaders need to help their organizations navigate these new seas, and understand and set the new standards (and lexicon) for responsible business in the 2020s.

Barney Wyld, Group Corporate Affairs Director, National Grid
